Jayys Athletic Journey

The background

After running a little here and there, signing up for half marathons with his mates and running them with the simple goal of survival, Jayy moved to Myanmar after university where all exercise basically stopped. After leaving Myanmar and heading to Sweden in 2020 he decided to start training seriously and see what he could do.

After 10 months of, what can only be described as tumultuous training, Jayy ran his first 10k in a time of 34:14. Shortly after he started training with Spårvägen in Stockholm where he was lucky enough to run and train alongside some of Sweden's best runners and coaches.

The following year he raced in the Swedish Championships 10k road race in a time of 32:14, and then finished the year with his first 5000m race in a time of 15:13

Then comes the big switch. After getting injured at the end of summer 2023, after finishing his best race ever (4th at the Cross Country DM in Stockholm), Jayy fell in love with triathlon training. Having never swam, nor rode a bike before (outside of ripping 360s in the BMX park as a kid), he decided he would give this thing a shot.

Since then Jayy has raced in the Swedish championship sprint race, placed 4th in his first 70.3 in Jönköping and qualified for the Ironman 70.3 World Championships. He also most recently placed 3rd in the RM Sprint in Stockholm where he experienced his first drug testing!

The future goal is simple. Become the single best triathlete that he can be. Leave the sporting world behind knowing he gave everything to it, regardless of the results.

Follow Jayys Journey

For the past 2 years now Jayy has been documenting and sharing his journey over on Instagram, Tiktok and most importantly Strava.

He aims to share his journey but also post content that athletes can learn from. He also says that he thinks its really important to almost know the people that follow along and comment/interact, hence why you will vary rarely see an unreplied to comment.
